A case of thrombosis in pregnancy
It is estimated that one or two women in a thousand may have thrombosis during pregnancy. In fact, gestation increases the risk of thrombosis 3 to 6 times compared to the situation of non-pregnancy. A young woman came in. she was pregnant and complained of a pain in her leg. What did we do? Look at the leg. What was going on with that leg? It was red and hard. We did a sonogram and found that this person had a thrombosis.

First, to stop the thrombosis from growing and to treat the thromboembolic disease, and second, for the pregnancy to run its course. After our tests, we found that this person had a genetic predisposition for thromboembolic disease. That is something found relatively frequently by hospital hematologists.

Starting then, I was on Heparin until three months after my daughter was born. They did checks and found that the clot had fully dissolved. Luckily, I had no valve damage in the area. The vein remained intact.
