The use of heparin in pregnancy is increasingly common to avoid thromboembolic complications, abortions or delays in fetal growth. In this story, Monica tells us how thanks to heparin, she was able to bring her third pregnancy to term.

We had two kids and decided to have a third. During the pregnancy, everything was going well until during a check-up, when I was 22 o 23 weeks along, they found that the fetus was dead. They told me if I wanted to get pregnant again, I’d need to take heparin throughout the pregnancy.

These patients, if there were no heparin, would suffer repeated miscarriages, or intrauterine fetal deaths, or late-term miscarriages. They could have pregnancies with problems due to a lack of liquid or delayed growth. Thanks to heparin, these patients can have a better prognosis and a better perinatal result.
