Initially scheduled for the month of March in Cairo, Egypt, the congress had to be rescheduled in June 2011 in Athens, Greece. Despite of the schedule change, it was confirmed attendance of delegates coming from 60 countries from the five continents.
The papers presented by experts coming from the US, UK, Italy, Holland, South Africa, India, Jordan or Israel dealt with subjects of great interest such as biopesticides, sustainable agriculture, intelligent irrigation methods, fertigation in desert environments, new types of organic fertilizers, pest bio-control or new techniques to fight plant diseases.
The New Ag congress constitutes an indispensable meeting point between producers and manufacturers in the Mediterranean basin and Middle East, which are emerging markets for high tech agriculture and products. Bioibericas Plant Physiology Division had a stand at this congress presenting their products, with special emphasis in its flagship product, Cera Trap®, the fully environmentally-friendly product to combat the fruit fly plague, considered one of the most harmful for Mediterranean agriculture. The efficacy of Cera Trap®, has been demonstrated repeatedly in experimental studies carried out in a number of countries of the Mediterranean basin, North Africa and Middle East.
