Heparin Science Business Unit is glad to inform that our crude heparin facility in Italy passed satisfactorily a United States Food and Drug Administration (US FDA) Inspection for compliance with US FDA requirements.

The SECA and Bioibérica Farma create the Innova Awards for excellence in the management and healthcare quality in osteoarthritis
The aim of these awards is to recognize innovative projects that contribute to improve disease management and attention to osteoarthritis patients.

Candidates should submit their projects before September 30, 2012. The two awards, which include a 20,000 Euro prize each, will be given next November 8th, in an award ceremony hosted during the Annual Congress of the SECA.

A new research paper proves that chondroitin sulphate inhibits angiogenesis, a mechanism of action involved in the rapid progression of osteoarthritis
The uncontrolled formation of new blood vessels in the synovial membrane (angiogenesis) may increase joint inflammation.

Inflammation is associated to loss of cartilage tissue and pain, which causes rapid progression of the disease.
